As Authorities Executed a Search Warrant in Emmaus, Man Attempted to Dispose of Cocaine

Lehigh County authorities reported the arrest of a man who attempted to destroy drugs during a search warrant operation at his residence. Bryan Reyes, 30, from Emmaus, faces multiple charges, including possession with intent to deliver, tampering with evidence, and various misdemeanors related to drug possession and paraphernalia.

The execution of the search warrant by the Lehigh County Drug Task Force and Allentown Police Department Vice occurred at Reyes' residence on Chestnut Street in Emmaus at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

During the search, officers employed a flash-bang device and found Reyes trying to eliminate cocaine in a running shower while also attempting to flush marijuana down the toilet. The search yielded two pounds of marijuana, 2.8 grams of cocaine, a scale, baggies, and THC cartridges, according to the DA's office. Reyes is presently held at Lehigh County Jail on a bail of $75,000, according to authorities.

Individual Sentenced after Sexually Assaulting 94-year-old Woman Suffering from Dementia at Emmaus Care Facility

An Allentown man, Anthony Clark, who confessed to sexually assaulting a 94-year-old woman with dementia at an Emmaus care facility, has received his sentence, as per the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office. Clark was handed a 20 to 40-year prison term by Lehigh County Judge Robert Steinberg, following his guilty plea to charges of rape of a mentally disabled person and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person with a mental disability on August 21, as confirmed by the DA's office.

According to Emmaus police, on February 2, 2022, a report of a sexual assault at South Mountain Memory Care in Emmaus was received. An employee discovered Clark, also an employee, in the victim’s room, sexually assaulting the resident who suffered from dementia and was unable to communicate, authorities stated. Clark was immediately terminated from his position at the facility. Subsequent investigation uncovered evidence that matched Clark’s DNA, officials revealed.

The DA's office commended South Mountain Memory Care for their full cooperation throughout the investigation. Although the victim passed away on June 15, 2022, there is no evidence linking her death to the assault.

Driver Passes School Bus Unloading Children

A Pennsylvania resident shared troubling dashcam footage recently, capturing a driver in a red Ford Explorer recklessly passing a stopped school bus with flashing lights, endangering children who were disembarking after school.

The incident unfolded on the 500 block of E Emmaus Ave in Allentown. The video depicts the person traveling along E Emmaus Ave as a school bus ahead comes to a stop at the Filbert St. intersection, activating its flashing lights to discharge children. Although the footage doesn't show the driver's viewpoint, it's presumed that the school bus driver extended the stop arm.

According to traffic regulations, drivers from both directions are required to halt their vehicles at least 10 feet away from a stopped school bus until the bus retracts its stop arm, switches off the flashing lights, and resumes its journey.

In this case, while the bus was letting children off, a driver in a red mid-2000s Ford Explorer blatantly ignored the stop and passed by the bus, disregarding the safety of the disembarking kids. Fortunately, no children crossed to the other side of the street during this incident; otherwise, the outcome could have been significantly more severe.

Under Pennsylvania law, passing a stopped school bus in such a manner incurs a fine ranging between $250 to $300, results in five points added to the driver's record, and entails a sixty-day license suspension.
