Boy, 16, Killed in Crash on Cedar Crest Boulevard near Emmaus High School
On Tuesday, a tragic two-vehicle crash occurred near Emmaus High School as classes were ending, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old boy who was a passenger in one of the vehicles. Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio confirmed the boy's death, pronouncing him dead at 3:23 p.m. at the crash site located at North Street and Cedar Crest Boulevard in the borough.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, and Buglio is in the process of notifying the family and relatives of the deceased. Witnesses present at the scene indicated that the victim was a student, but neither Buglio nor Emmaus police provided official confirmation on Tuesday. Several other individuals in the same vehicle were also reportedly students; some of them were transported from the scene by ambulance. Witnesses mentioned that there were potentially up to seven people in the car, although the exact number was not confirmed.
The driver of the second vehicle, who appeared to be the sole occupant, remained present at the scene. Despite the presence of officials, no comments or details about the incident were provided.
Parkland Assistant Coach Saves Man’s Life
In a tense 13-minute episode on Saturday morning, Kelly Bracetty, an assistant cross-country coach at Parkland High School, found herself thrust into a life-saving situation.. Bracetty and her Trojans were practicing near the Li’l Le-Hi Trout Nursery in Allentown, when they heard desperate cries for help.
The source of the commotion was Dave Roberts, a 70-year-old man who had suffered a severe heart attack while jogging along the Lehigh Parkway, with his wife Anne Beasty following closely behind. Bracetty vividly recalled the wife’s chilling screams, urging someone to call 911, as Roberts lay unconscious on the path.
"I turned around and saw a woman about 100 yards away, kneeling over someone on the concrete. I told Parkland head coach Stephen Ott to call 911 and sprinted toward the woman," Bracetty recounted. The wife informed Bracetty that Roberts had atrial fibrillation and hadn't been feeling well that day. Despite her anguish, Beasty expressed her fear of losing her husband, especially after the recent passing of her mother.
Surveying the grim scene, Bracetty noticed blood on the back of Roberts' head from the fall, his eyes closed, body cold, and pulse absent. Determining the gravity of the situation, she began performing CPR. "After several minutes of CPR, I felt his body move slightly. I leaned back and saw his chest rising on its own; he was alive, breathing, and had a pulse," Bracetty said, her voice filled with relief.
Bracetty and the wife clasped hands as they heard the wailing sirens of the fire truck and ambulance in the distance. EMTs arrived promptly, less than five minutes after the 911 call, taking over the resuscitation efforts. They rushed Roberts to a nearby hospital, where he underwent heart bypass surgery the following day, embarking on the road to recovery.
Reflecting on the incident, everyone involved agreed that the swift response of the EMTs, combined with Bracetty's timely intervention, had been instrumental in saving Roberts' life. In the midst of a crisis, Bracetty found herself in the right place at the right time, demonstrating remarkable courage and skill that made a life-altering difference.

14 year old Allen Student Charged with Making Threats
Allentown police announced on Monday that a 14-year-old student from Allen High School has been charged with making terroristic threats and other offenses. This follows an incident last week when the student made a false active shooter threat to the school, prompting a lockdown and a thorough search of the premises. Fortunately, no credible threat or active shooter was discovered, and classes resumed shortly after the incident.
Detectives from the Juvenile Division conducted an investigation into the call, leading to the identification of the 14-year-old as a "person of interest." Alongside the terroristic threats charge, the teenager is also facing charges for misusing the 911 emergency line and disorderly conduct. The legal proceedings will take place in Lehigh County juvenile court.

Sports News of Interest
James Harden Traded Away from Philadelphia 76ers
James Harden made a public declaration, accusing his employer of dishonesty and vowing never to play for the Philadelphia 76ers again. True to his word, the 10-time All-Star, known for his frequent trade requests, is now embarking on a new journey with his fifth NBA team, setting his sights on winning his first championship in his home state of California.
In his move to the Los Angeles Clippers, Harden joins forces with fellow veterans Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Russell Westbrook, forming a core group determined to secure the Clippers' maiden NBA title.
Despite leading the league in assists last season with an average of 10.7 per game, Harden's lackluster performance in Games 6 and 7, where he scored a total of 22 points, contributed to the Sixers' defeat against Boston in the second round of the playoffs.
Harden's discontent with the 76ers stemmed from his expectation of securing a long-term contract, which didn't materialize. Fueled by this disappointment, he severed ties with the team, publicly accusing Morey of dishonesty during an August event in China. Originally slated to practice with the 76ers, Harden's plans have changed, as he is now en route to California, leaving Philadelphia behind.
